Why did Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce get married at MSG?
Swift and Kelsea have made privacy a top priority throughout their relationship, sharing details such as their engagement in August 2025 on their terms.
To do the same on their wedding day, they chose a venue that doubled as a safe haven. At MSG, where Swift attended New York Knicks basketball games and performed numerous times throughout her career, the bride and groom and their A-list attendees had access to a private loading area away from New York City’s busy streets where they could pose for photos.
(E! News obtained records of special event permits for loading and unloading around MSG during the festival.)
MSG’s sealed roof protected the couple from helicopters and drones attempting to spy on the wedding.
In addition to privacy, the venue can accommodate more than 20,000 people, allowing Kelce and Swift, who also own an apartment in the city, to grow their guest list. As she told Graham Norton in October 2025, “It’s huge.”
Additionally, New York has many non-stop flights, as guests like Norton fly in from all over the world.
