The world has lost a veteran actor.
Tom Chadbon, whose acting career spanned decades and included appearances in Game of Thrones, Doctor Who and Casino Royale, died at the age of 80 over the weekend, according to Phantom Events, which organized the British star’s signing earlier this year.
In a July 27 statement, the company described Chadbon as a “familiar face to many” and said, “He was always a warm and friendly person to work with. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this sad time.”
In fact, Chadbon frequently appears on the big and small screens and has been credited as an actor in over 100 productions.
Most notably, he played private investigator Duggan alongside Tom Baker’s Doctor in the 1979 Doctor Who drama City of Death. According to the BBC, the four-part finale attracted more than 16 million viewers and remains the most-watched episode in the long-running show’s history.
“Tom Chadbon was so funny. So funny!” Baker said of his co-star in a 2009 interview with Doctor Who Magazine. “I loved the other actors. I was always trying to help them make things funnier and more dramatic.”
