Their youngest, on the other hand, is suited to basically any sport that uses a ball. “He’s just dragging his bat around in the backyard,” Andrew said of Baer. “Then you put the ball on the tee and knock it down. It’s a lot of fun.”
And for Drew, it’s a climb.
“My daughter is into rock climbing now and she’s become a different kid,” Sean said. “She’s a quiet, introspective kid by nature, but rock climbing brings her to life.”
She can run up basically any structure, and Andrew marveled, “She’s trained so many muscles!”
That’s not the only skill that kindergartners are working on flexibly these days. “She’s like a little fashion designer,” said Sean, who cuts up balloons and makes clothes for Barbie dolls. I don’t know where you got that from. ”
But that commitment to detail is definitely a hallmark of the East family.
Knowing a thing or two about the dedication it takes to get to the top of your game, they realized that “there seems to be a cultural narrative right now about keeping your options open,” Sean explained, which inspired them to write their newly released guide, The Courage to Commit: Embracing the Radical Power of Sticking with Something.
