NFL reporter Deanna Russini resigns after vacation; photo with Patriots’ Mike Vrabel surfaces
No challenge flag raised for Mike Vrabel.
After the New England Patriots head coach was photographed on a cozy vacation with sports journalist Deanna Russini, NFL chief spokesperson Brian McCarthy told ESPN that Vrabel’s actions were not being reviewed as part of a personal conduct policy that requires coaches to avoid “conduct that undermines the integrity and public trust of the National Football League.”
Eh! The News reached out to representatives for Vrabel, the Patriots and the NFL for comment, but did not receive a response.
Mr. Vrabel, who married his wife Jen Vrabel in 1999, is not part of the league’s investigation, but Mr. Russini resigned from his job at The Athletic, the New York Times’ subscription-based journalism division, amid the scandal.
“I have covered the NFL with professionalism and dedication throughout my career and stand by every article I have ever published,” she said in an April 14 letter to the sports magazine’s executive editor, Stephen Ginsburg, obtained by The Associated Press. “Unfortunately, commentators in various media outlets are making wild speculations that are completely disregarded by the facts.”
