What are the benefits of sleep perfume?
There are many benefits to using a sleep perfume during your bedtime routine. The secret is all about the connection between the senses, mind, emotions and body. Certain scents can relax your entire body and put you in the right state of mind for a good night’s sleep.
“There’s some limited research that shows things like lavender and chamomile are calming, but I think the stronger link is mental conditioning, which is still incredibly powerful,” Lawler told E! “So when you smell it and then you go to sleep, you’re going to have a great night. You’re kind of associating that with this scent.”
For both Lawler and Kusman, scent is tied to custom and ritual. We all know that smell is the strongest sense associated with memory. That’s what I miss so much. It doesn’t even have to be a childhood memory or a specific vacation. It can be as simple as a sleep routine.
Still, sleep perfumes don’t work as a quick fix for poor sleep hygiene. “If you’ve made a mistake in your sleep hygiene and then you bathe in a lot of lavender scent and expect to sleep really well, it doesn’t work. And we don’t want this scent to remind us of how bad we’ve been sleeping,” Lawler explained.
