4. Dani (Thora Birch) was a crazy kitten when it came to Binx, but Birch wasn’t that into the cat IRL.
“There were seven different live cats, two different animatronic cats, and a cat that didn’t even exist. It was like an X on a lamppost and they said, ‘There’s Binks!'” Birch E! news. “I had no idea what I was getting into. To tell you the truth, don’t tell anyone, I’m not a cat person!”
5. But Birch was definitely a fan of Sean Murray, the actor who played the real-life Thackery Binks. Sean Murray currently stars on CBS’s NCIS, and despite only appearing in a few scenes, he remains a definite ’90s favorite. She admitted that she had a bit of a crush on him during filming, saying, “He was dreamy! He was definitely cute!”
6. Birch wasn’t the only young girl on set with a crush. Amanda Shepherd (also known as Binx’s beloved sister Emily) strikes up a friendship with Elijah Wood when he sneaks off to explore the Disney grounds.
“All of a sudden, boys were playing basketball and I was like, ‘I don’t know how to play basketball,’ and then I immediately saw Elijah Wood and I just fell in love with him because I think he was shooting Huck Finn at the time,” Shepherd said. “And we became friends and I had a huge crush on him.”
