But just breathe, breathe, breathe, breathe. Because Grande’s musical POV will continue to be shared with people, including on her next album, Petal.
“This is basically a story about something full of life growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging,” she explained in a May 7 Instagram video. “It’s like letting go of all kinds of negative attachments, whether it’s monsters in my own head, voices from outside, or things that no longer serve me.”
Still, the 7 Rings artist hopes his lyrics ring true for listeners, too.
“It was a writing experiment for me to use this as a template, so I can talk about one thing and share something, and people can use it however they want and apply it to their own lives,” she continued.
As for what fans can expect from the music, Grande described it as “a little bit wild.”
“It definitely comes from a place that I’ve been too shy or too polite to step into before,” she added. “And this feels kind of weird.”
While Arianator won’t be released from anticipation until July 31st, Grande has already shared the full tracklist and the album’s first single, “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” which she calls “one of my favorite songs I’ll ever write.” And when co-star Justin Long heard about the music video, which was released in May, he didn’t think twice about whether he wanted to be a part of it.
“Being a part of this project was an unexpected gift,” the Going the Distance alum said on Instagram, adding, “I look forward to hearing my grandkids say, ‘Isn’t it weird that grandpa was in an Ariana Grande music video?'”
