After Alex proposed on an Airbnb during a trip to Whidbey Island in Washington – “he pulled out the ring box and asked, ‘Do you want to keep doing what we were doing?'” the couple married in September 2020, with only family in attendance in a small lakeside ceremony.
Alex shared on his Instagram post that Sanni had a “beautiful night, clear as always, clear enough of the apocalyptic smoke to have a decent view.”
Less than a year later, when she was officiating her best friend’s vows, they found out Sanni was expecting.
Sanni told People magazine, “It reminded me of the scene in Friends where Rachel keeps spitting out champagne at Monica’s wedding.”
Similar to Alex’s anxiety-provoking climb, the arrival of their first son in February 2022 was a frightening whirlwind of emotions, and June was sent to the NICU shortly after an emergency C-section.
“I don’t know if it compares to a bad situation in the mountains where you’re like, ‘Oh my god, I’m going to die,’ but in some ways it’s worse because it’s a deep fear. Seeing her get cut open, bleeding all over her body, in pain. ‘Oh, my god, my wife’s going to die, my baby’s going to die,'” Alex told Fatherly. To think that her life could be turned upside down in an instant.
