“What I’m saying is, if you’re the type of person to pray, and I certainly am, but for the sake of the six souls we’ve lost, the seventh soul coming home tonight, and all of our families, I hope you know better than almost any other category of Americans what it means to put on the uniform and sacrifice for your country,” Vance said.

“So I ask you to please share a moment of prayer for our comrades-in-arms, and for your comrades-in-arms who are keeping this country safe in their own ways, just as you are keeping this country safe in special ways,” the vice president said.

The six other U.S. soldiers who died during the war were identified as: Declan Cody; Captain Cody Cork. Sergeant 1st Class Nicole Amor. Sergeant 1st Class Noah Tietjens. Major Geoffrey O’Brien. and U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer Robert Marzan III.
