Pop star Sabrina Carpenter on Tuesday criticized the Trump administration for using her 2024 hit song “Juno” as the soundtrack for a TikTok video showing Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detaining people during raids.

In response to the White House posting the ICE video on TikTok, Carpenter wrote to X, “This video is evil and disgusting.”

“Please don’t ever implicate me or my music for your inhuman purposes,” she added.

The clip posted by the White House begins with footage of protests against ICE operations, then cuts to a montage of officers handcuffing and restraining people.

The soundtrack features “Juno”‘s viral lyrics, “Have you ever tried this?”

The caption of Whitehouse’s post reflects the lyrics: “Have you tried this? Bye-bye.”

Carpenter usually performs the song on tour in a playful skit featuring pink furry prosthetic handcuffs.

White House press secretary Abigail Jackson responded to Carpenter’s criticism in a statement to CNBC.

“This is a short and sweet message to Sabrina Carpenter: I will not apologize for deporting dangerous criminals, illegal murderers, rapists, and pedophiles from our country,” Jackson said.

“Are people who defend this disease monster stupid or dull?” she said.

Short and Sweet is Carpenter’s 2024 album that catapulted him to worldwide fame. “Juno” is on that album.

CNBC has reached out to Carpenter’s representatives for comment.

Carpenter is the latest in a growing number of artists to speak out against President Donald Trump and his administration’s use of their music without permission or for political messages.

Beyoncé, Neil Young, ABBA, Celine Dion and Olivia Rodrigo are among the artists who have called on Trump to stop using their songs at rallies and social media videos.

Some of these artists have sent cease and desist letters or threatened legal action.
