Watch Ryan Reynolds, Michael Bublé and more take over Canada’s World Cup opening ceremony

You should know that the 2026 World Cup is coming to Canada.

To commemorate the occasion, Canadian stars Alanis Morissette and Michael Bublé performed at the opening ceremony of their country’s game against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 12 in Toronto.

Morissette, 52, wearing a patriotic red jacket, gave a stunning rendition of “O Canada,” while Bublé, 50, in a suit, sang a cover of Sam Cooke’s “Bring It on Home to Me,” backed by the Sole Power Choir, before the players took to the pitch.

Vancouver native Ryan Reynolds was seen cheering on his local team in the stands.

Canada is one of three North American countries hosting this year’s soccer tournament. On June 11, Mexico kicked off the World Cup with a star-studded celebration featuring Shakira, Burna Boy, Salma Hayek Pinault, J. Balvin, Andrea Bocelli and, as a symbol of global unity, pop Demon Hunters singer EJAE.

The World Cup opening ceremony in the United States is scheduled to take place later on June 12, with Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, Lisa, Tyra, Dan + Shay and Rema expected to take the stage at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
