Influencer Piper Rockel, 18, claims she made $2.9 million in just one day on OnlyFans
Robert Downey Jr. doesn’t think influencer culture is over.
In fact, while influencers are becoming increasingly prevalent throughout the pop culture zeitgeist, the Marvel actor still doesn’t think influencers will change the world of celebrity in the long term.
“When you hear people talking about, ‘Oh, the stars of the future are going to be influencers,'” Robert said on the April 26 episode of the podcast “Conversations for our Daughters.” “I say, ‘I don’t know what kind of world you live in, but I think that’s an absolute problem—t.'”
But the 61-year-old recognizes that today’s situation as a budding star is very different from the environment in which he grew up.
“In the late ’70s and early ’80s, there was a sense that the competition wasn’t so tough that there was no need to even bother trying. Whereas today, people can just roll the phone to themselves and create celebrity without having to do anything.”
But he says he doesn’t necessarily see it as a negative thing. “I see more and more challenges to individuality.”
