“Gina is now in her fifth week of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy,” she added. “The treatment is relentless. She is exhausted, struggles to stay awake, and is becoming malnourished as her sore tongue and throat make it incredibly difficult to swallow even the smallest sips and sips. It’s a daily battle just to get enough nutrition and fluids to continue treatment.”
And the financial burden of Keogh’s cancer treatment was just as great as the physical one.
“In addition to the physical strain, she is no longer able to work,” Bosworth wrote. “Her job is commission-based, so the loss of income has placed a huge financial burden on her at the very time she needs to devote all her energy to healing.”
But while Keogh continues to battle her health, Bosworth remains in awe of her mother’s strength.
“Everyone who knows her knows this: in the face of terrible things like wildfires, cancer, and uncertainty, she is impossibly optimistic,” Bosworth wrote in an Instagram post on July 19. “But somehow she was always afraid of the simplest thing: being vulnerable enough to ask for help.”
