“Connor is very expressive. Elijah is like a Slavic rock,” continued the 24-year-old, who joined Connor, 25, at the awards ceremony. “Then Shane is also like a dense brick. So there’s a slab rock and a dense brick.”
And while the show’s depiction of a queer love story touched many hearts, it also allowed many closeted LGBTQ+ athletes to reach out to the show’s actors.
“People who reach out anonymously are like, ‘I’m still a professional athlete, I’m still in the closet,'” Hudson said in a Jan. 7 clip appearing on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show “Radio Andy.” “They have also contacted our author, Rachel, who will relay this nice anonymous email.”
She added: “Sometimes people reach out to me personally through Instagram, and those kinds of things really hit home and say, ‘Oh, this is a fun show, it’s celebratory, but sometimes it hits a nerve with people.'”
