Qatar will host the FIFA U-17 World Cup in November and December, the sport’s world governing body and local organizers have announced.
Qatar’s local organizing committee announced on Wednesday that the tournament will be held in the 2022 FIFA World Cup host nation from November 19 to December 13 and will involve 48 teams.
This is the second year that the Gulf nation has hosted the U-17 tournament, which will be held in Qatar every year until 2029.
The draw for the tournament will take place on May 21st in Zurich, Switzerland.
The match will be held on the soccer field of the Aspire Zone sports complex in Qatar’s capital Doha, which also includes the Khalifa International Stadium.
According to local organizers, the 2025 tournament featured 104 matches over 15 match days, with more than 197,460 spectators in attendance.
The 2025 edition served as a launching pad for emerging footballers such as Egypt’s Hamza Abdelkarim, Mali’s Seydou Dembele, Belgium’s Jesse Biciu and Nathan de Cato, and Italy’s Samuele Inacio.
The final will be held at the Khalifa International Stadium, which was won by Portugal in 2025.
The announcement comes a month after Qatar’s hosting of the Spain-Argentina ‘Finalissima’ match scheduled for March was canceled due to the Middle East war.
The match between European champions Spain and Copa America winners Argentina is scheduled for March 27th at the Lusail Stadium, and fans should have had the chance to watch Lionel Messi and Lamine Yamal play against each other.
The match between Spain and Argentina was held as part of the Qatar Football Festival. The five-day festival featured Egypt vs. Saudi Arabia and Qatar vs. Serbia on March 26th, Egypt vs. Spain and Saudi Arabia vs. Serbia on March 30th, and Qatar vs. Argentina on March 31st.
