OpenAI has expanded its low-cost subscription plan ChatGPT Go to 16 more countries in Asia, company president Nick Turley announced Thursday.

“Making ChatGPT more affordable has been a key request from our users,” Turley said in a post on social media platform X in August.

The artificial intelligence company launched ChatGPT Go in India and Indonesia earlier this year.

This rollout will bring OpenAI’s cheapest plan to users in a total of 18 Asian countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor-Leste (East Timor), and Vietnam.

OpenAI said on its website that the enhancements aim to increase the accessibility of its latest model, GPT-5.

ChatGPT Go includes all the features of the free version, plus expanded access to image generation, file uploads, advanced data analysis, and other features. OpenAI says it also includes higher usage limits for core chat and tools than the free plan.

Why Jefferies declares ChatGPT the winner of the AI chatbot battle

ChatGPT Go launched in India and Indonesia for a monthly fee of 399 rupees (about $4.50) and 75,000 rupees (about $4.53), respectively, which is a fraction of the price of the company’s other subscription plans. Pricing for plans in other Asian markets may vary.

OpenAI currently has two other paid individual plans. ChatGPT Plus is available for $20 per month and ChatGPT Pro is available for $200 per month. The company also offers a business plan for $25 per month.

ChatGPT usage has been growing rapidly around the world since its launch in late 2022. According to OpenAI data, the growth rate of AI chatbot adoption in low-income countries was more than four times that of high-income countries by May 2025.

OpenAI said this budget-friendly plan is gradually being made available to all users. If you live in Cambodia, Laos, or Nepal, ChatGPT Go is already available for web and Android subscriptions, but not yet for iOS apps.
