Moshe Kasher is relying on humor during his battle with cancer.
The comedian revealed that he was diagnosed with tonsil cancer three months ago after discovering a sore on his throat while co-starring in the film Comeback King with Judd Apatow and Glen Powell in Georgia.
As a result, Casher recently underwent surgery to remove the mass as part of his treatment.
“Two days ago, a Jewish surgical robot at Cedars-Sinai pulled my jaw for five hours and cut it off,” he joked in an Instagram post on June 21. “Then they slit my throat, slit my neck, and left a hard scar on my neck. People will be hesitant to engage in street combat with me.”
But on a serious note, the 46-year-old called the medical ordeal “the most terrifying and mind-bending experience of my life.”
“My life has been one of fear, meditation, tears, and medical planning,” he continued. “I’m in pain and in the middle of a very difficult process. It’s going to be a long summer.”
That’s why the actor, who recently appeared on the second season of The Pit as American Sign Language interpreter Samuel Jacob, is keeping his spirits up. As he says, “The good news is that the cure rate for the cancer I have is incredibly high.”
