Deciding which movies to stream just got a whole lot easier.
Because nearly 16 years after Easy A was released in theaters, it’s now available on Fandango’s rebooted streaming platform.
The film, loosely inspired by The Scarlet Letter and starring Emma Stone, was released in theaters on September 17, 2010. And as it turns out, Emma Stone was drawn to her role from the start as Olive, a high school student who lies about having sex and then sees how her life and reputation change when word spreads.
“I read the script before Screen Gems, the studio that produced it, optioned it,” she explained to E! The news dates back to 2010. “So it was floating around and no one was making it. I was just like, ‘Oh my god, I love this so much.’
Once Screen Gems acquired the rights to the script, she met with director Will Gluck and other film production leaders, and “they pushed me to be the first person to audition for it,” Emma continued.
“Needless to say, they auditioned a lot of people for this production,” the then-21-year-old added. “So I was very fortunate that they gave me that opportunity because I had obviously never done anything in that capacity before.”
