Kevin Rose last spoke at Discrupt in 2012 while Digg was in the middle of the technology’s most talked about pivot. More than a decade later, he returns to TechCrunch Sturps in 2025, taking place in Moscone West, San Francisco on October 27-29, and reopens Digg with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, sharing what the experience taught him through product, community and turbulence.

However, Rose’s story doesn’t end with a dig. Over the past decade, he has become one of Silicon Valley’s most active early-stage investors, helping startups define categories such as consumer technology, crypto. As a partner at True Ventures, Rose brings both the perspective and expertise of his founder to the table.

This is not able to confuse stage sessions, and if it is most important, you will learn how to pivot at the most important time when you are least expecting it. Secure tickets for today and save up to $668 by 11:59pm on September 26th.

Kevin Rose is the founding CEO of Digg and is currently serving as board chair, investor and advisor as the platform undergoes the latest reboot. His entrepreneurial track record spans multiple startups, including Revision3, Zero, Oak and Proof.

He also served as CEO of Hodinkee, general partner of Google Ventures, and supported breakout companies such as Uber, Slack, and Nextdoor. As an angel investor, Rose has a portfolio that includes Twitter, Facebook, Solana, Openai and Magic Spoon. Recognised as a top angel investor by Bloomberg, he has been featured in Forbes, Time and MIT publications for his contributions to technology and media.

Rose also hosts the Kevin Rose Show, co-hosting a random show with Tim Ferris, sharing insights into startups, investments and personal growth. Beyond technology, he is an avid Zen meditation practitioner, an exercise that shapes how he approaches entrepreneurship and investment.

Why this session is important

In this Fireside Chat, Rose evaluates founders, emergent opportunities and reveals how to apply lessons from entrepreneurs’ journeys to today’s investments. From pivoting under pressure to finding convictions in a raucous market, expect straightforward insights into what really needs to build and set back a lasting business.
