Emily Kaiser shares how she forgave husband Brady Kaiser after son Tryg’s accidental death

Emily Kaiser and Brady Kaiser are moving forward together.

But shortly after her 3-year-old son, Trigg, drowned in an accident in May 2025, while she was home with Trigg and her then-5-week-old son, Theodore, Brady wasn’t sure she could forgive him until she changed her perspective and mindset.

“From the beginning, I was very angry with him,” Emily told Jay Shetty on the On Purpose podcast on June 17. “But the biggest thing that literally changed my brain chemistry and my way of thinking is that this could just as easily have happened to me. This could just as easily have happened to me and Brady’s position.”

As the 27-year-old noted, Brady was juggling caring for Trigg in addition to Teddy when they went out to dinner that night.

“What happened is unacceptable,” she continued. “It doesn’t excuse the sequence of events that followed, but accepting that responsibility along with all the other things that I knew I could have changed gave me a really, deep, real, raw empathy for him that this could have been me.”
