Boxer Floyd Mayweather is facing two felony charges in Las Vegas for allegedly writing a fraudulent check to buy a watch from a high-end resale store.

As reported by ESPN, Mayweather’s official charges are “theft, value of $100,000 or more,” and “writing or passing a check with intent to defraud, value of $1,200 or more.”
His case is scheduled for a hearing in September.
Mayweather, 49, was charged in April with theft and issuing a check without sufficient funds for the purpose of fraud, according to court records.
According to a criminal complaint, Clark County prosecutors allege that in December 2024, Mayweather wrote a check for $200,000 to Las Vegas designer resale store Gold & Beyond through Wells Fargo Bank, even though there were insufficient funds in the account.
Mayweather’s lawyers and representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment, according to the Associated Press.
According to Nevada law, if convicted of fraud, Mayweather could face one to four years in prison and up to $5,000 in fines and restitution. Felony theft carries a penalty of one to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $15,000.
The felony charges come as Mayweather faces other legal battles.
He was sued in New York earlier this year for allegedly failing to pay rent on his Manhattan apartment, and was in financial dispute with several jewelers. He also filed a lawsuit in New York against former management, alleging a years-long fraud scheme.
Mayweather, a former five-division world champion with a perfect record of 50-0, came out of retirement earlier this year and announced he would return to competitive boxing this summer.
Mayweather was scheduled to be in Athens, Greece, to compete in the Battle of the Legends boxing match on June 27, according to a previous news release.
