FIFA wants to make money from the World Cup finals even after the matches are over and the tournament is over.
Some World Cup final pitches will be sold starting at $450 each, soccer’s governing body announced on Saturday.
MetLife in New Jersey typically uses artificial turf for NFL games between the New York Giants and Jets, but players and coaches have criticized the quality of the field. FIFA renamed the World Cup venue New Jersey New York Stadium.
FIFA, which has been accused of charging high fees for this year’s U.S. tournament, will gain more than $11 million from the sale, The Athletic reported.
“Get a piece of authentic soccer history by permanently preserving a piece of the authentic 2026 FIFA World Cup pitch in premium acrylic with USB memorabilia,” the website says. “Each piece contains an original fragment of the iconic Finals playing surface, making it a unique collectible celebrating one of the world’s greatest sporting events.”
According to the official store, each turf segment is 17.5 x 17.5 x 17.5, but it doesn’t specify whether those numbers are inches, centimeters, or millimeters.
FIFA says, “The acrylic USB features an authenticity film and offers a sleek, contemporary display piece. Presented in a premium hinged shoulder box with striking spot UV detailing, this special item is designed for collectors, fans and football enthusiasts alike.”
FIFA only allows sending turf to addresses in the United States and Europe.
“Orders will not be shipped until after the 2026 FIFA World Cup Finals,” the governing body said.
In addition to expensive tournament tickets and memorabilia, the top end of the souvenir turf range costs $3,000. The 3-by-3-inch lawn comes with a gold-etched replica ticket, a miniature World Cup replica ball, and a crystal-cut World Cup trophy.
Other three-tier souvenir turfs retail for $450, $900 and $1,200.
A maximum of 2,026 pieces can be used in one tier.
FIFA is selling regular tickets for the final for up to $32,970, and is asking $34,500 and $32,500 for entertainment tickets, including food and drink.
According to the report, the turf used in the World Cup finals was grown at a turf farm in North Carolina.
To ensure consistency, new turf fields were installed at all World Cup venues, including those that normally have artificial surfaces, such as the stadium in Seattle, Washington. Atlanta, Georgia. East Rutherford, New Jersey. Vancouver, Canada. Arlington, Texas. and Inglewood, California.
It is unclear what will happen to the grass field, which will not be used for the finals.
