Health insurance is at the heart of government closures.

Without action from Congress, premiums for those who purchase coverage through the Affordable Care Act market are more than twice as poised for the 2026 average enrollee.

Democrats require laws that end the closure to include strengthened subsidies or extended enhanced premium tax credits, as has been cheaper for the majority of ACA enrollees in recent years. Republicans say they don’t want to include subsidies in closure negotiations.

My impasse leaves millions of individuals buying market insurance – self-employed business owners, gig workers, early retirements who still have access to Medicare, and more, are wrapped up about future health costs. Open registration for 2026 ACA Coverage will begin on November 1st.

ACA subscribers: How are your health insurance premiums ready to change next year? And how will that affect the rest of your personal finances?

We want to hear from you.
