Japan’s long-standing role as a “quiet stabilizer” of global bond markets may be about to change, and the U.S. Treasury could be among the first to feel the effects. Japanese investors and institutions are among the largest holders of foreign government bonds. At the end of 2024, they held 12.4% of foreign-held federal debt (securities worth more than $1 trillion), making them the top holders of U.S. debt abroad. Japan is also a major holder of government bonds issued by governments in Europe and Asia. Much of the appeal for Japanese investors is the relatively high yields offered by countries…

When the first Toy Story movie was released in 1995, Google didn’t exist yet and Apple was on the verge of bankruptcy. No one could have predicted that Pixar would still be making Toy Story movies more than 30 years later, or that the latest installment in the series would pit Buzz Lightyear and a bald Woody against an evil AI tablet called Lilypad. But sure enough, Toy Story 5 pits classic toys like Mrs. Potato Head, Rex, and Slinky Dog against the evil threat of technology. The trailer shows Bonnie, the girl who inherited Andy’s toys from Toy Story…
