Ayo Dosunmu came off the bench to score a career-high 43 points on 13-of-17 shooting as the short-handed Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Denver Nuggets 112-96 in Game 4 of the Western Conference quarterfinal series in Minneapolis on Saturday night.

The win gave Minnesota a 3-1 lead and was costly for the Timberwolves, who lost two key starting pitchers to injury in the seven-game series.

Anthony Edwards, a four-time All-Star and the team’s leading scorer, left the game in the second quarter and did not return due to a left knee injury. Earlier, midway through the first half, Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo injured his right foot on a non-contact play. Initial reports said he may have ruptured his Achilles tendon.

For Minnesota, Naz Reid added 17 points off the bench. Julius Randle had 15 points and nine rebounds, and Rudy Gobert had a game-high 15 rebounds and scored four points.

Jamal Murray led Denver with 30 points on 10-of-25 shooting. Nikola Jokic had 24 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists. However, he made 8 of 22 field goals and missed all three of his 3-point attempts.

Thunder 121, Suns 109

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored a playoff career-high 42 points to lead Oklahoma City to a road win over Phoenix.

The reigning NBA Most Valuable Player went 15-of-18 from the floor and had eight assists to give the Thunder a commanding 3-0 lead in the first round of the Western Conference playoff series.

Oklahoma City has won 11 straight first-round games. The Thunder, who played without Jaylen Williams who injured his hamstring in Wednesday’s Game 2 win, will rely even more on Gilgeous-Alexander.

Dillon Brooks led the Suns with 33 points, and Jalen Green added 26 points. Devin Booker scored 16 points but was held to 6-of-16 shooting from the floor.

Knicks 114, Hawks 98

Karl-Anthony Towns totaled 20 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds to complete New York’s first career playoff triple-double as New York defeated host Atlanta to tie the Eastern Conference first-round series at two games apiece.

Towns ensured that Game 5 in New York on Tuesday would not be an elimination game for the Knicks, and also ensured that the series would return to Atlanta for Game 6 on Thursday. Towns achieved his fifth career triple-double in any game. He also achieved the seventh postseason triple-double in New York history. Anunoby led the Knicks with 22 points and 10 rebounds, achieving his fourth career double-double in the playoffs.

CJ McCollum led the Hawks with 17 points, but they were held to just three points after halftime. Nickell Alexander-Walker added 15 points and hit five three-threes, but the Hawks were an abysmal 10-of-41 (24.4 percent) from behind the arc.

Banchero had 12 rebounds and nine assists for the eighth-seeded Magic, who improved to 7-1 in their final eight postseason games at home, including the play-in tournament game. Bane made 7 of 9 3-point shots.

Cunningham scored 12 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter for the Pistons. Tobias Harris added 23 points, Orser Thompson 17 points and Duncan Robinson 10 points.
