What are some of the reasons the NS-31 crew goes to space?

Each member of the crew has their own reason for participating in this mission.

In ELLE’s recent cover story, many women expressed their desire to inspire future generations. For Perry, this includes reminding her daughter Daisy with fiancé Orlando Bloom to “never put limits on her dreams and show that any type of person can reach them, regardless of background, ethnicity, economic status, or education level.”

King was honest about her nerves, telling the magazine that she wants to encourage people to step outside their comfort zones.

“Once I do that, it will open the door for a lot of other people who were like, ‘Well, I was one of those passive people, and now I’m here and I’m really, really excited about it,'” she added.

And Nguyen noted that she now has a chance to fulfill a “dream deferred.”

“I worked at NASA and studied stars, including astrophysics, at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, but life got in the way,” she told the magazine. “Gender-based violence is a big reason why many women in STEM don’t continue their training, and I was one of those women. After I was sexually assaulted, I traded my telescope to fight for my rights as a sexual assault survivor. I drafted the Sexual Assault Victims’ Bill of Rights and passed it in Congress and the United Nations. And 10 years later, I thought, ‘I want to honor who I was.’ I was hurt.”
