Full disclosure: Steven Spielberg has a large family.
In fact, the director of Disclosure Day, which opens on June 12, and his wife Kate Capshaw are parents to a large blended family of seven children. Jessica Capshaw, 49 years old. Max Spielberg, 40 years old. Theo Spielberg, 37 years old. Sasha Spielberg, 36 years old. Sawyer Spielberg, 34 years old. Michaela Spielberg (30 years old) and Destry Allyn Spielberg (29 years old).
Considering that many children follow in their father’s famous footsteps and pursue careers in Hollywood, Stephen was able to give them some advice.
“I basically tell my kids who are actors, ‘When you go read for a role, don’t expect to get the role,'” the Oscar winner told E! News at the Disclosure Day premiere in New York on June 8th. “‘Go in there and just power through and let everything happen. Because if you’re expecting it or really want it, it’s going to make you very self-conscious and it’s going to make you very nervous.'”
Given his workload, raising children wasn’t always part of Stephen’s plans. It wasn’t until he directed the 1982 film E.T., starring Drew Barrymore and Henry Thomas as children, that the director realized he could play a father.
