Gabriel Langton suffered a concussion after colliding head-on with the horizontal bar during the final rotation of the competition.

British gymnast Gabriel Langton was taken to hospital after a hard fall during the men’s gymnastics final at the Commonwealth Games, but he is conscious and speaking to doctors, team officials have announced.
The 19-year-old crashed head-first into the floor after coming off the horizontal bar during the final rotation of the competition on Friday, forcing a lengthy stoppage as medical personnel rushed in.

After being treated on the competition floor for several minutes, Langton was placed on a stretcher, fitted with a head and neck support, and taken from the arena to a hospital for further tests.
Team officials said Langton was conscious, moving and speaking with doctors.
“We would like to thank the medical team for their immediate response and assistance,” the England team said in a statement.
“He has been taken to the hospital and we will share more information as it becomes available.”
The incident cast a shadow over the rest of the competition, and when play resumed, England settled for silver behind Canada.
Australia won bronze, their first men’s gymnastics team medal since winning gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
Langton was drafted into the team to replace injured six-time Olympic medalist Max Whitlock, but was unable to celebrate the team’s podium finish.
“From what we hear, he’s fine,” Langton’s teammate Luke Whitehouse said.
“Gymnastics is a very dangerous sport and events like this remind us of that. Gymnastics is one of those things that we have to get out of our heads.”
