Verizon is down 7% in three months. The stock is down 15% from its March high. The company pays a quarterly dividend of approximately 71 cents per share, which gives Verizon a current dividend yield of 6.46%. HCA Healthcare is down 20% in three months. The stock is down 32% from its March high. Over the past three months, HCA 3M Mountain HCA Healthcare Brent crude oil futures are up 14% week-to-date. On Thursday, it exceeded $100 per barrel. West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures are up more than 11% so far this week. On Thursday, it exceeded $90 per barrel. According to AAA, the current price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline across the United States is $4.09. Gasoline futures have risen about 18% over the past month. Energy Stocks The S&P Energy sector was the best performer this week, rising 3.5%. EQT is up 7.7% so far this week. It has fallen 22% from its March high. ExxonMobil rose 6.5% this week. The stock is down 11% from its March high. Diamondback Energy is up 5% over the week. It has fallen 4% from its May high. Occidental Petroleum is up 5% since the beginning of the week. The stock is down 14% from its March high, and ConocoPhillips is up 4.8% this week. The stock is down 11.5% from its March 30 high. Chevron is up 3.8% this week. The stock has fallen 9.5% from its March 30 high. S&P Utilities was the second-highest performing sector this week, rising 2.3% for the period. The State Street PDR S&P Retail ETF (XRT) is down 3.4% so far this week. It has fallen 6% from its January high. The S&P Airlines industry is down 2.7% so far this week. It is down 13.5% from June’s high. Target fell 3.7% in four days. It is down 7% from last week’s high. Walmart fell 5.1% in four days. It has fallen 20% from its May high. Bath & Body Works has fallen 7.3% over the past four days. The stock is down 41% from its high a year ago. Dick’s Sporting Goods is down 6% so far this week. The stock is down 16% from its June 22 high. Abercrombie & Fitch, a mall staple, is down 4.6% so far this week. It has fallen 32% from its January high. Tariffs In a Thursday night article by CNBC’s Kevin Breuninger and Ashley Trujillo, the Trump administration said it plans to enact new tariffs on 60 U.S. trading partners that will cover 99% of their trade. The 10% to 12.5% tariffs would “effectively replace President Donald Trump’s temporary 10% global tariffs,” but could have a longer-term, more consistent impact. The iShares MSCI Mexico ETF (EWW) is down 8% from its February high. The iShares MSCI Canada ETF (EWC) hit a new high on Wednesday. It rose 2% in July.
