Hungry Fury’s heavyweight return fight against Mahmudov is “light and tight” | Boxing News

Tyson Fury is back lighter than his last fight, but he still weighs three pounds heavier than Arslanbek Mahmudov.

Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury tipped the scales considerably lighter than when he last fought in 2024, but still weighed several pounds heavier than Russia’s Arslanbek Mahmudov.

The 37-year-old weighed in at 267.9 pounds in his underwear after his Canadian-based opponent weighed in at 264.9 pounds at Friday’s weigh-in.

Fury’s weight was compared to the 281 pounds he weighed in his rematch with world champion Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024 (albeit clothed) and the 262 pounds he weighed against the Ukrainian in May of the same year.

The British player said he still had “a little bit left in the tank” after returning from retirement for the fifth time.

“Four or five more retirements and I should be good to go,” he said. “My priority is to defeat this guy. There are a lot of Easter eggs in the fridge. Whoever has this belt, I want it back.”

“I wanted to express my opinion, so I came dressed light and toned.”

Fury, who has been training in Thailand for 16 weeks, promised fans he would score a knockout victory at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night.

“I’m going to knock his head off his shoulders,” he told reporters Thursday.

“I’ll be like the gamecock on top of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and he’ll be like the guy who got knocked out and there were sparks on the floor.”

The British fighter has not fought since losing a unanimous decision to Usyk, but believes he is still one of the top fighters in the division.

“Actually, I feel sorry for Mahmudov because he has to face me, Tyson Fury, who is in good form and has no injuries,” he said.

“Sooner or later, the so-called Alphabet World Champions will have to fight me. Whoever holds the belt will be begging me for a match before the end of the year – on all fours, begging the Gypsy King to fight them.”

The bout with Mahmudov will be broadcast exclusively on Netflix, highlighting Fury’s continued commercial appeal after 16 months away from the ring.

“I’m a money person. When you talk about Tyson Fury in heavyweight boxing, you know you’re being paid,” he said.
