Waymo announced Wednesday that humans will begin test driving the vehicle. alphabetCompany-owned robotaxi fleets in Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and St. Louis.

The three cities are the latest additions to the list of cities where Google’s sister company Waymo operates, plans to launch, or has begun testing robotaxis. That list currently includes 26 markets.

Waymo hopes to launch manual driving in three new cities this week and eventually launch fully self-driving service there, spokesperson Ethan Teicher told CNBC.

Over the past month, Waymo has been active in announcing new markets and developments at Google’s sister companies. This emerges as a technological rival Amazon and tesla Amazon’s Zoox begins offering free rides in Las Vegas and San Francisco; tesla This year, it launched human-supervised ride-hailing services in the Austin and San Francisco markets.

Waymo announced in November that it would soon begin manual operation in Minneapolis, Tampa and New Orleans. The company has also added Houston, San Antonio, and Orlando to its list of cities where it will launch in 2026. Waymo also launched freeway ride-hailing in the San Francisco, Los Angeles and Phoenix markets and named a new finance chief.

Waymo’s robotaxi service takes more than 250,000 paid rides each week and currently operates in the Austin, San Francisco Bay Area, Phoenix, Atlanta, and Los Angeles markets. The company announced in May that it has provided more than 10 million paid rides since launching in 2020.

The new cities further demonstrate that Waymo believes its service can work well in locations with cold weather conditions.
