Brazil were shown eight red cards in a chaotic 1-0 loss to the U.S. women’s national team in a friendly in Fortaleza.
Brazilian coach Arthur Elias and three assistant coaches were sent off, while Bea Zanerat and Tarciane were also dismissed. Two other players were shown red cards after the full-time whistle on Tuesday night.

Sophia Wilson’s shot was deflected off Isabela and went past Brazilian goalkeeper Lorena in the 63rd minute to score the only goal of the game in front of more than 55,000 fans in northern Brazil. The hosts did not have a single shot on goal, while the United States had six.
Brazil coach Elias and several assistants were sent off from the technical area midway through the second half.
Attacker Zanerat received a second yellow card and was sent off for shoving Emily Sonnet, leaving Brazil trailing by nine points in stoppage time.
Shortly after, her teammate Tarciane received a straight red for elbowing Wilson.
Chaos continued after the final whistle, with Brazil’s Kerorin and Ludmila receiving red cards for dissent.

This was the second of two games for the United States in Brazil, where the United States lost 2-1 in the season opener in Sao Paulo on Saturday.
Marta, a six-time FIFA World Player of the Year, came on as a substitute in the 80th minute, making his 212th appearance for Brazil.
Dudinha appeared to have injured his right knee in a collision with Sonnet in the 30th minute and was carried off the field on a stretcher in obvious pain. The 20-year-old forward, who plays for the San Diego Wave of the National Women’s Soccer League, returned to the bench in the second half on crutches.
The matches in Sao Paulo and Fortaleza were played in the stadium that will be used for the Women’s World Cup in June and July next year. The US will begin its qualification campaign in November.
