Sofia Vergara has a pretty good idea of what Gloria’s modern life will be like.
Five years after Modern Family concluded its 11th season on ABC, she explained how she envisions her character entering a new phase of motherhood, as Gloria and her husband Jay (Ed O’Neil) watch Manny (Rico Rodriguez) come of age.
“Jay and Gloria are already preparing for Manny to start college,” she exclusively told E! News at Food Network’s New York City Wine & Food Festival on October 18th. “If Jay and Gloria could have been with Little Joe right now, it would have been a really, really fun season.”
And Sofia, 53, can certainly relate to sending her kids off to school, having watched her own son Manolo Gonzalez Vergara attend Emerson College and graduate in 2015.
However, Manolo himself has some thoughts on how Gloria will keep busy without Manny at home, telling E! News that Gloria may also participate in the 18th anniversary of the food festival hosted by Invesco QQQ at the Seaport.
“If not, she’d be here with the sauce,” he quipped, and Sophia added, “Yeah, she’d be selling sauce here in New York.”
