Hollywood is mourning the loss of a pioneering young star.
Kaylee Hottle, the deaf actress best known for her role as Gia in the Godzilla films, has died, her father Jonathan Hottle confirmed in a July 21 Facebook livestream. she was 19 years old.
“I’m on a plane I never want to be on,” he captioned the video, with Jonathan explaining the dire situation in American Sign Language.
At ASL, Jonathan explained that his daughter was killed in a traffic accident in Maryland in the early hours of July 21st. Authorities contacted Jonathan shortly afterward and confirmed that Kaylee’s heart had stopped on the way from the accident scene to the hospital.
Jonathan explained that he was at the airport because he was flying from Texas to pick up his daughter’s body.
Below his post, several loved ones in the family expressed their condolences and highlighted the impact Caylee had on their lives and careers.
One person wrote under Jonathan’s post: “Kayley was in good spirits beyond her years. My heart goes out to you all. I hope your family gets through this most difficult time. Kayley will always be in good spirits and with you all.”
