Al Jazeera Sports looks at how the title race is shaping up ahead of the match at the Etihad Stadium.
What will happen to the Premier League title race?
Arsenal are five points behind with three games remaining, while City have four games remaining.
City already need the Gunners to drop points if they are to regain control of the race.
If City lose to Brenford and Arsenal win the next game, the title race could be decided in the next game.
When will Arsenal play in the Premier League again?
Arsenal face West Ham in the London derby on Sunday.
This could be the toughest challenge the Gunners will face in the reshuffle, given the Hammers’ own relegation status. To do that, the Gunners will need to win all their games and rely on goodwill from the team one level above them, Arsenal’s strong rivals Tottenham.
What are Manchester City’s remaining Premier League matches?
After the visit of Brentford, City host Crystal Palace on Wednesday, drawing a tie with Arsenal, before traveling to Chelsea and Bournemouth before facing Aston Villa on the final day.
What are Arsenal’s remaining Premier League matches?
After West Ham, Arsenal have relegated Burnley and face a final day trip to Crystal Palace, who now have their eyes on the Europa Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano.
The Gunners will also be thinking more about the European final, where they will face holders Paris Saint-Germain in a showdown for Champions League qualification.
What did Man City say ahead of the game against Brentford?
Manager Josep Guardiola says City need to fight back against Brentford to put pressure back on Arsenal in the Premier League title race.
City drew with Everton, leaving the fate of the title in the hands of the Gunners.
If Guardiola’s side can beat Champions League hopefuls Brentford at the Etihad, they will close the gap at the top of the table for at least 24 hours.
“Let’s put pressure on Arsenal to win the game,” Guardiola said at Friday’s pre-match press conference. “That’s all we have to do. It’s all we can do.”
City looked set to lose against Everton until Jeremy Doku grabbed a point with what was effectively the final kick of the game.
The Belgian scored twice at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, taking his tally to four in his last five games and taking his tally to seven in a season in a City shirt.
“I’m very happy,” Guardiola added of Doc’s progress. “Jeremy not only contributed with goals and assists, but also defensively. Jeremy was great this season.”
What are Arsenal saying ahead of the game against West Ham?
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants his players to remain motivated to succeed as they approach a crucial three weeks that could see them lift the club’s first Premier League title since 2004 and their first ever Champions League trophy.
Arteta’s side beat Atletico Madrid on Tuesday to reach the Champions League final.
Speaking to reporters ahead of Sunday’s game against West Ham United, Arteta shared a message for his players and Arsenal fans.
“Let’s stay here now. Live in the moment. Prepare and show the same level of energy, hunger and desire that we have shown all season, if not more. We are getting closer and closer and everything we do will matter,” the coach said on Friday.
The Champions League final against defending champions PSG is set for May 30, and Arteta has urged his players to focus on 18th-placed West Ham, who are battling to avoid relegation.
“We will have time to prepare for the final, but now we have to give it our all, pay attention to the details and put all our energy into West Ham. We have made that clear,” Arteta said.
“I was in a very high emotional state after the (Atlético) game and we know what that means to everyone.
“But believe me, right after that, my concentration, focus, energy, attention was at West Ham. What I have to do mentally, physically, tactically and technically to prepare in the best way to go there and win the game.”
