The flight attendant had planned to take home her $1 million prize on Survivor: China and use it to see the world, but she publicly battled alcoholism after appearing on the CBS reality show.
A frequent performer on The Dr. Phil Show, he made headlines in 2017 when he claimed to Stat and the Boston Globe that he scored a 0.5 on a breathalyzer test during his infamous 2013 appearance and that the show’s producers provided him with alcohol and Xanax before escorting him on stage. (He resurfaced in 2016, revealing he had relapsed.)
A rep for the show denied the claims, telling E! News, “The Stats article does not fairly and accurately describe Dr. Phil’s methods, the television show, or its mission to educate millions of viewers about drug and alcohol addiction. The show does not provide drugs or alcohol to its guests, and any suggestion to the contrary is false nonsense.”
During a Reddit AMA in 2018, Todd said, “I’m grateful to the show (Survivor) in so many ways. For helping me out in the nicest place in the country. It’s just a gift. There are things about the show that I don’t like and that I don’t think are real. … In that sense, I should have been hospitalized. There’s no way I had liters of vodka in my dressing room.”
After winning in 2007, Ms. Todd, who once dated fellow castaway Spencer Dahm, became a waiter in Orlando and told People magazine in 2012, “Customers say, ‘I know you from somewhere,’ but you never say where you’re from. If they found out I won $1 million, they’d leave a heinous tip.”
Todd, who is now “happy and sober,” revealed in his Reddit AMA that he runs a movie theater.
