World Cup winners Spain returned to the top of the FIFA men’s rankings by defeating Argentina, who had fallen to second place, while France remained in third place.
Luis de la Fuente’s side defeated 2022 champions Argentina 1-0 in extra time on Sunday to return to the top of the table for the first time since January.
Despite Thomas Tuchel’s side defeating Les Bleus to take bronze, France and England remained in third and fourth place in the standings.
Brazil moved up to 5th place, and Morocco rose to 6th place, its highest ever.
Portugal were eliminated from the World Cup in the round of 16, dropping two places to seventh place. Belgium moved up to 8th place, replacing the Netherlands which dropped to 9th place.
Mexico moved up four places into the top 10, but Norway made the biggest jump after advancing to the World Cup quarterfinals, moving up 12 places to 19th place.
Germany fell outside the top 10, falling to 12th place, one place above Croatia. Italy missed out on the World Cup and fell to 15th place.
Tunisia suffered the biggest drop, falling 12 places to 57th place, while Egypt, who reached the last 16 of the World Cup, rose five places to 24th place, and Paraguay rose seven places to 34th place.
Cape Verde, who made it to the last 32, moved up three places to 64th place, one place ahead of Ghana, who moved up eight places.
