OpenAI announced Thursday that it has acquired Software Applications Incorporated, a small company that developed artificial intelligence interfaces. apple computer.
All 12 members of the software applications team will join OpenAI, a spokesperson said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
OpenAI says the startup’s product, Sky, allows Mac computer users to receive natural language prompts and help with writing, coding, planning, and managing their day. Sky can take actions through the app and understand what you see on your screen.
“Sky’s tight integration with Mac accelerates our vision of bringing AI directly into the tools people use every day,” Nick Turley, head of ChatGPT at OpenAI, said in a statement.
Software Applications was founded in 2023, and the company announced Sky in May. According to OpenAI’s website, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman contributed to the startup’s $6.5 million seed funding round.
OpenAI has been on an onslaught of deals in recent months. In May, the company acquired Jony Ive’s AI device startup io for more than $6 billion, and in September it acquired product development startup Statsig for $1.1 billion.
Turley and OpenAI’s applications CEO Fidji Simo led the acquisition of Software Applications, according to a blog post.
