Khloe Kardashian had doubts about doing her own show with Lamar Odom
“Khloe & Lamar” first aired on E! on April 10, 2011, and seemed like a natural spinoff from the mothership “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” which already spawned “Khloe & Kourtney Take Miami” and “Kourtney & Kim Take New York.”
But according to Chloe, now 41, that wasn’t her idea.
“Khloe and Lamar were greatly guided by Lamar,” she said in a written statement. “I was really thin. And I didn’t really want to jeopardize the family brand, which was Keeping Up at the time. I thought there were a lot of Kardashian shows, and I reminded him about his day job, uh, the Lakers, and I just said, ‘Are you sure you want to do this?'”
Khloe said filming KUWTK allowed her to “hop around to different houses” without being “under the microscope” and admitted she was “a little worried” about having the show take place from home all the time. “But I also wanted to make him happy,” she said. “And he was so excited about it.”
Destiny said of her father, “He definitely loved Chloe, but he always wanted to be on a reality show.”
Or, as Lamar put it in documents, “Well, part of the deal was, ‘If I’m going to marry you, well, I want to marry you too.'”
