“The players’ defense of the Palestinian people and Spain’s support for Iran… showed that freedom and assertiveness are the hallmarks of an intelligent and decent country,” Iran’s top negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on Monday in remarks quoted by state news agency IRNA.
He added that Spain’s 1-0 victory “pleased not only the hearts of the Spanish people, but also the hearts of many countries of the world that love free, independent and justice.”
