Harvey Weinstein rape retrial ends in second mistrial, jury deadlocked

Harvey Weinstein’s legal journey has once again come to an inconclusive conclusion.

According to multiple media outlets, Weinstein’s case ended in another mistrial on May 15 after a jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict after his third trial in New York City in 2013 for raping Jessica Mann.

Eh! The News has reached out to Weinstein’s legal team for comment, but has not yet received a response.

In 2017, Mann, an actress and hairstylist, accused Weinstein of raping her in a New York City hotel room. In the years since, his lawyers have argued that the encounter was consensual, but Mann resisted during the incident and said he repeatedly told Weinstein “no.”

Mann told her story for the first time to jurors at Weinstein’s first trial in 2020. At the time, Weinstein, 74, maintained his innocence. At the end of the trial, the media mogul was found guilty of third-degree rape and one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and sentenced to 23 years in prison.

However, his conviction was overturned four years later when the New York State Supreme Court ruled that improper testimony had been admitted at trial.
