Google brings Gemini Personal Intelligence feature to India

Google on Tuesday announced that it will bring Gemini’s personal intelligence features to users in India. This feature allows users to connect their Google accounts like Gmail and Google Photos to ask Gemini questions and get personalized answers.

After connecting to the service, users can ask questions such as “What are your travel plans to Jaipur?” To obtain information from emails and photos. This feature can also refer to recent YouTube videos that users have watched for ideas. The company said Gemini will identify the source of the answer and allow you to verify details if needed.

At launch, Personal Intelligence features are limited to AI Pro and AI Ultra users in India. But Google said it aims to expand it to free users in the coming weeks.

Expansion into India brings Gemini’s capabilities to another large market. Google first rolled out a beta version of Personal Intelligence to some paying customers in the US in January. The company made the feature available to all users in the U.S. in March and also launched it in Japan.

Google warned that Gemini doesn’t always properly understand the context of the data and can make connections between completely unrelated topics.

“Gemini can also struggle with timing and nuance, especially when it comes to relationship changes such as divorce, or different interests. For example, seeing hundreds of photos of you on the golf course might lead people to think you like golf. But that’s not nuanced. You don’t like golf, but you love your son, and that’s why you’re there. If a Gemini gets this wrong, just say it (“I don’t like golf”),” the company explained in a blog post.

The company is rapidly bringing advanced AI capabilities to users in India, one of its largest markets. The company released Gemini on Chrome for users in the country in March. Last week, it also enabled agent flows to book restaurants through AI mode in India by partnering with platforms like Zomato, Swiggy, and EazyDiner.
