Gayle King details ex-husband William Bumpass having affair with friend
Gayle King is happy to let bygones be bygones.
The CBS anchor responded to her ex-husband William Bumpass’ apology for having an affair with a family friend in the 1990s, after Gail discussed the affair on her recent appearance on Call Her Daddy.
On May 28, Gayle told media outlet TMZ after receiving William’s statement, “I’m surprised you guys found him.” “A, you found him, that’s the best thing. And B, he even talked about it, because he never does. So I was surprised, but I can also say I’m grateful for what he said.”
In fact, William, who was married to Gail, now 71, for 11 years before divorcing in 1993, released a lengthy statement expressing his regret for his infidelity, marking the second time in a decade that he has publicly apologized.
William told TMZ he is “infinitely grateful” to his ex-wife and their children, daughter Kirby Bumpass, 40, and son William Bumpass Jr., 39, for giving him “the two greatest gifts” of his life, noting that Gail “has every right to share what has been a painful chapter.”
