Bosinha became one of the most talked about players of the World Cup, making a series of spectacular saves against top teams, including defending champion Argentina.
The goalkeeper, who left Portugal’s second division side Chavez before the summer, was voted into FIFA’s World Cup Dream Team by fans.
“Vosinha will be a Colo-Colo player. He will travel to Chile in the next few days to undergo the usual medical examinations, after which he will be presented here at the Estadio Monumental,” Mosa said.
He added that Bosinha’s performances at the World Cup showed he deserved a move, while admitting the deal also had marketing appeal for the Chilean side.
Colo Colo teased the deal on social media with an image showing the veteran goalkeeper’s trademark curly hair.
Vosinha, whose real name is Josimar José Évora Díaz, also became a social media star with the help of Brazilian influencer Casimiro. The goalkeeper’s Instagram followers have soared from 50,000 to nearly 30 million.
In addition, his mother, Ana Candida Evola, made headlines when she revealed that she was unable to travel to watch over her son because she had to pay a deposit for a visa to enter the United States.
Through lobbying from U.S. House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, she was eventually granted a visa with all travel expenses waived.
Colo Colo, based in Chile’s capital Santiago, currently sit at the top of the Liga de Primera.
They are Chile’s most successful team and the only club from the country to have won the Copa Libertadores.
