Wall Street analysts remained unimpressed after Paramount Skydance reported the combined company’s first disappointing third-quarter earnings report. Paramount reported a combined pre-merger and post-merger loss of 12 cents per share last quarter. Analysts polled by LSEG had expected earnings of 38 cents per share. Sales of $6.7 billion also fell short of expectations of $6.97 billion. However, the company’s stock was trading 10% higher on Tuesday. Traders appear to be reacting to Paramount’s plans to further cut costs and lay off additional employees. At the same time, the company announced that it will raise prices for its streaming services next…

Venezuela said it was beginning a “massive mobilization” of military personnel, weapons and equipment in response to the buildup of U.S. warships and troops in the Caribbean. Army, air, naval and reserve forces will carry out exercises until Wednesday, according to Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López, who said the deployment was a response to the “imperialist threat” posed by the U.S. military buildup. In addition to regular military forces, Bolivarian militia will also participate in the exercise. The Bolivarian Militia is a reserve army of civilians created by the late President Hugo Chávez and named after Simón Bolívar, the revolutionary…
The tragedy was especially painful for Thomas, whose sister Ella Thomas died by suicide in 2018. As a result, the football star felt particularly called upon to help his teammates through difficult situations. “Losing my sister to suicide is a very emotional thing for me,” he explained. “But (I definitely have) a responsibility to be here for my teammates and let them know that there’s help out there, there’s love out there, and there’s a way to get through this together in a way that honors Marshawn, but also honors our own feelings.” According to a press release from local…
According to Bank of America, the stock market is full of undervalued companies that investors should pay attention to. Hyperscalar tech companies and other high-flying stocks tied to artificial intelligence are driving the U.S. stock market to record highs this year. But AI trading has been volatile in recent weeks as some in the market have begun to question the soaring valuations of AI stocks, the ultimate return on hyperscalers’ high capital expenditures, and the downside of a market so concentrated in technology. The top five companies in the S&P 500 are all tech giants, accounting for about 30% of…
Masayoshi Son’s popularity is middling. The SoftBank founder’s career is littered with eyebrow-raising gambles, each one looking more outrageous than the last. His latest move, to cash out all of his $5.8 billion in NVIDIA stock to go all-in on AI, surprised the business world on Tuesday, but maybe he shouldn’t. It’s rather surprising that the 68-year-old Son didn’t push his chips to the center of the table at this point. Consider that during the dot-com bubble of the late 1990s, Son’s net worth soared to about $78 billion by February 2000, making him briefly the world’s richest person. Then,…
