Health tech startup Sinos on Wednesday announced a $20 million funding round to gain a foothold in the GLP-1-powered weight loss market and expand partnerships with medical device giants. dexcom.

google Ventures, Dexcom, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama invested in this latest round. This includes a new distribution agreement to list Signos subscription plans on Dexcom’s direct-to-consumer site.

“Dexcom’s investment truly reflects our shared belief in the future of glucose biosensing beyond diabetes management,” CEO Sharam Hooradgar Mercer told CNBC. “Their biosensors provide glucose data. We translate that into actual guidance.”

Signos develops artificial intelligence-powered glucose monitoring systems designed to support healthy weight loss. The system is the first of its kind to be cleared by the Food and Drug Administration in 2025.

Dexcom’s off-the-shelf continuous blood sugar monitor measures how your real-time lifestyle choices, including food choices, sleep, and stress levels, impact your health. From there, the platform provides personalized recommendations to build healthier habits.

“Nobody wants a PhD in statistics to understand their body, so we’re helping translate these glucose insights into practical recommendations, with pattern recognition designed to support healthier habits and sustainable weight management,” Hooradgar Mercer told CNBC.

The company declined to comment on the valuation after the round.

The new funding will also be used to expand predictive AI capabilities, such as dietary scoring, which uses your data to warn you before you eat whether a particular food is likely to spike your blood sugar levels.

Hooradgar Mercer said the real opportunity for AI is to turn biology into “practical guidance that people can actually use.”

“So when you take a photo of food, the AI detects the entity and understands the macros and all that and even the activity. But it’s really about how you take it, determine in real-time how your body reacts, and provide feedback to drive behavior change,” he said.

The service is intended for use by those who want to supplement GLP-1 drug therapy or as a stand-alone weight loss system, Hooradgar Mercer said.

With the new partnership between Signos and Dexcom, the startup will novo nordiskWegovy and Eli LillyZepbound continues to soar.

According to government data, nearly 74% of Americans are obese or overweight. Estimate from JP Morgan They predict that about 25 million Americans will receive GLP-1 by 2030, more than double the number of patients in 2025.

While the company did not share metrics on revenue or customer numbers, Hooradgar Mercer said both revenue and user base have grown 10x in the past six months. He added: “Tens of thousands of people are participating in clinical studies.”

“It’s fine if we just track outputs like steps or heart rate, but if we can’t track metabolic inputs and their responses, we won’t be able to help people as effectively as we hope.”
