Barcelona’s unexpected loss to Sevilla drops the Spanish champion two points behind Real Madrid in the La Liga Ladder.

Sevila hit Barcelona 4-1 on Sunday, denying the opportunity to return to the top of the table after a unbeaten start of the champions in LaLiga.
The Andalucian club’s first league victory over Barcelona since 2015 led them to sixth in the rankings, scoring 13 points from eight games. Barcelona placed second with 19 points, knocking two leaders down Real Madrid.

“It was one of the happiest days of my life. We deserved to win from start to finish,” said Jose Angel Carmona, who scored Sevilla’s third goal.
Barcelona got off to a muted start and had no shots on target in the first half, but Sevilla looked into probes early and unleashing Alexis Sanchez with a long ball.
In the 13th minute, Sevilla took the lead in the 13th minute after falling while stolen the ball with Ronald Araujo near Barcelona’s six-yard box, and the referee gave Sevilla a penalty after watching a VAR replay.
Sanchez sent former Arsenal teammate wojciech szczesny the wrong way to convert a spot kick.
Szczesny stopped Sevilla double the lead in the 27th minute, saving Romero’s shot from inside the Box.
However, Romero doubled Sevilla’s lead after 10 minutes. Reuben Vargas passed Barcelona’s high defensive line and chased the ball near the box, then passed the Spanish forward who sent his first finish.
Marcus Rashford reduced Barcelona’s deficit late in the break, pushing Pedri’s lobbed pass into the net from a close angle with his left foot.

Lewandowski misses the penalty
Barcelona advanced in the second half and was handed the opportunity to be equal when Adnan Januzaj defeated Alejandro Barde in the box, but Robert Lewandowsky fired a big shot from the penalty spot in the 76th minute.
Hope to save the visitors’ points ended in 90 minutes when Carmona shot the defender in the leg and found the net and placed Sevilla forward 3-1.
The second half replacement Akor Adams scored from a pass from Chidera Ejuke to make the extra time 4-1 after five minutes.
“We lacked strength. We couldn’t get out of half the ball. We didn’t know what to do with the ball…we weren’t at our best,” Barcelona midfielder Pedri said.
“We need to improve a lot so that we can win the game again after the break.”
Having won two games in a row, Sevilla continues his league campaign after an international break with Marolca on the same day as Barcelona host Girona.
