Nursery hackers delete child data following backlash, UK media reports

According to reports in the UK, some hackers claim they have stole data from more than 8,000 children, including photos, addresses and names, deleted some of the Dark Web’s information online, and deleted the information.

The perpetrator had stolen data from the Kido Nursery chain and had requested that the company pay a ransom from Bitcoin.

According to the BBC, they had contacted their parents directly by phone. This is paid by getting a ransom that is believed to be around £600,000 ($809,700).

But now it appears that criminals who call themselves “shining” have deleted all the information online and backtracked it by saying they have deleted all the data that has been stolen, UK public broadcasters reported.

They are understood to not receive ransom money.

The move follows widespread public dislike for the British attack. “I’m sorry for hurting my child,” one cybercriminal told the BBC.

Last week, it was reported that information about thousands of Kido’s children was stolen by cyberhackers. The National Cybersecurity Centre (NCSC), a technical authority for cybersecurity in the UK, described the reported incident as “deeply painful.”

CNN contacted the Kido Nursery chain for comment.

On the website, Kido says it is owned and operated by a group of parents around the world. “We currently have schools all over the world, which brings together the best early childhood practices in the world, providing the best kindergarten experience for both children and parents.”
