Nepal cricket fans are celebrating the team’s historic victory in the West Indies in an international T20 match.
Nepal defeated the former world champion two times with 19 runs on the first fixture of the three-match T20I series held in Sharjah, the UAE on Saturday.

Nepal fans cheered their teams in the stands at Sharjaclicket Stadium after the match ended, and celebrations continued overnight in South Asian countries.
After being asked to hit first, Nepal announced a total competitive edge of 148-8 in 20 overs, making contributions from Captain Rohitpaudel (38) and intermediate batsman Kusharmara (30).
Sai then performed energetic bowling and fielding performances, restricting the West Indies, which won the T20 World Cup in 2012 and 2016.

This victory represents a major milestone for the rising cricketing nation.
“It’s a historic victory for us and will help us improve the position of players in the cricket world,” Chatthor Bahadur Chand, president of Nepal’s Cricket Association, told AFP News Agency.
Nepali fans in replica team shirts cheered and wavy the flag while watching the game at the stadium, television images showed.
“It wasn’t expected, but as the game progressed, we found out there was a chance we could win,” said Pujan Tapa, 27, who watched the game with family and friends on TV in Kathmandu.
“We were so happy, we stood up and danced.”
The victory came when Nepal recovered from a deadly anti-corruption protest that killed at least 72 people and overthrew the government.
Paudel gave his victory to the lifeless protesters, saying it would be great if they could “give Martyrs home” and give people a “little happiness.”
Former Chief Selector Dependra Chowdhally said the victory was the result of the team’s efforts.
“It motivates them to play well and inspire other young cricketers,” he said.
Social media platforms were also filled with congratulatory messages to players.
Cricket is becoming more popular in mountainous countries, and Nepal was given an international position of one day in 2018 by the World Governance Agency ICC.
Nepal made its ICC T20 World Cup debut in 2014 and returned to the tournament in 2024.
