BEIRUT (AP) — Israel’s drone strike in southern Lebanon killed five people on Sunday. Congress president Navi Beli said four killed, three children and her father retained US citizenship.

Two other people were injured, including the family mother.

Officials at the US Embassy in Beirut could not immediately request comment.

Israel continues to attack the South and Tolean Bannon almost daily as Israel reached a ceasefire agreement in November to end a few months of war with Hezbollah militant groups.

Israeli military said it targeted Hezbollah militants, saying he “worked from civilians.” It admitted that civilians were killed and that they were reviewing the case.

“The IDF is operated against Hezbola Terrorist organisations and will continue to act to eliminate the threat posed to Israel,” the statement said.

Israel frequently says it targets Hezbollah militants or infrastructure in the southern region of the small country that has been abused. Hezbollah claims that it has fired across the border since the ceasefire, but Israel says extremist groups are trying to restructure its capabilities.

Lebanese officials warn that the ongoing strikes could risk the country’s recent efforts to disarm the group and destabilize the country. Hezbollah claimed that there was no military presence south of the Ritani River, and refused to speak of disarmament without Israel stopping the attack and retreating from Lebanon’s territory.

President Joseph Own, who had previously landed in New York prior to the UN General Assembly, denounced the strike and called on the international community to halt Israel. Aoun, along with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, approved an agreement last month to gradually disarm Hezbollah.

“There is no peace on the blood of our children,” Aoun said in a statement from his office.

Prime Minister Salam called the attack “a message of threatening to target people returning to the south village.”

Hezbollah officials say the ongoing strike refuses to abandon weapons and claims ceasefire agreements and surveillance mechanisms with the US, France and UN peacekeeping forces are effective.

“They once again proved that relying on official protection under international auspices does not provide them with security and stability,” said Hassan Fadrara of Hezbollah Congress.
